Our Story

In 2004, the vision in the Ramu began with indigenous roots of literacy, translation and Bible lesson development in the Zəgabesə language. Almost 20 years later, there are four teams working in four language groups representing many villages who have had the opportunity to hear God’s Word in their own language. This was made possible through the creation of an orthography, development of literacy classes, translation teams and teaching the foundational principles of lesson development.

Now, young men and women from the Ramu Valley who have become literate as children are now excited to learn more about this amazingly created world that we live in and they are ripe for quality education, which can be hard to find – especially in the disadvantaged and remote parts of the country, including our Ramu Valley.

The vision of the Ramu Valley Academy is to work within the government system providing approved curriculum and exam opportunities for our students. The end goal is to produce upstanding PNG citizens who are active participants in their disadvantaged communities and who are able to use their influence for the continuation of the Great Commission here in Papua New Guinea. It’s their turn to LEARN!!!
